Why buying direct works for trade

For years, getting a work van has meant going through someone in the middle. A leasing company, a dealer, an auction house, a broker: each one takes a slice, and each one adds a layer between you and the vehicle.

Buying and selling direct, trade to trade, cuts those layers out.

Here is why that matters for a working business.

You keep more of the value

Think about what happens to a van sold the usual way. You take a trade-in price from a dealer, the dealer sends it to auction, the auction sells it to another dealer, and that dealer retails it. By the time the van reaches the trade buyer who actually wanted it, the price has climbed by a few thousand pounds and not a penny of that went to you or to them. It went to the chain in between. Sell directly to another trade buyer and that margin stays with you. Buy direct and you are not paying for those additional layers.

You see the condition upfront

The biggest risk in buying a used vehicle is not knowing what you are getting until it turns up, and auctions in particular are known for it. Buying direct, with the condition shown upfront on every vehicle, means you know what you are looking at before you commit. Known condition on every van simply takes the gamble out of it.

You pay a fair price, not an inflated one

Leasing spreads the cost, but you do pay for that convenience over the lease term and at the end of it you won’t own the vehicle. Buy outright, at a fair upfront price and the van is yours, the cost is done and there is an asset on your books rather than a bill that never ends. For a lot of trade businesses, owning the vehicle outright simply works out cheaper over its lifetime.

You deal with people who understand the work

Trade to trade means the person on the other side of the deal knows what a working van goes through. They know what matters, what wears and what a fair price looks like. There is less translation and less selling because both sides speak the same language.

When buying direct makes sense

  • You want to own the vehicle rather than lease it indefinitely.
  • You would rather keep the value in your business than hand it to the middlemen.
  • You want to see exactly what you are buying before you commit.
  • You are selling a van you have grown out of and want a fair price for it.

Leasing has its place, and so do the middlemen for some businesses. But for a lot of trade operators, buying and selling direct is simpler, fairer and cheaper. That is the whole idea behind Vangoo.

Vangoo is a trade-only marketplace for buying and selling commercial vehicles direct, with the condition shown upfront on every one. Buying and selling, made easy.
